REVIEW: Tower Heist
Eddie Murphy makes a much welcomed comeback to ADULT humor in this comedic dream team flick. This film has a star-studded cast in well-defined roles : Ben Stiller; Matthew Broderick; Casey Affleck; Michael Pena and Gabourey Sidibe. But Eddie Murphy steals every scene he's in.
Set in New York City, most of the action is at Trump Tower, where Alan Alda is a Bernie Madoff-like ponzi schemer whose crimes make the pensions of the apartment building's employees worthless. Vowing to get back the money, apartment manager Josh (Ben Stiller) recruits a group of disgruntled employees and tenants to steal back their money- led by local thief Slide (Eddie Murphy). Tea Leone plays the FBI hard-ass who busts the ponzi schemer.
The plot is worse than far-fetched. There's not an ounce of believability in the heist but the banter between the stars more than makes up for it.
A very relevant Tower Heist has a skyscraper worth of laughs.
I gave it 3 stars
